I can’t remember when orientation started, but it was probably late August. (I tried looking for an SU academic calendar online, but wasn’t successful.) Dave Van Ronk was featured during orientation, and played at least 5 nights. I attended at least 2 of his shows. I assume they were at Jabberwocky.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16386922069708573199noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1706502966606578575.post-40747242365552175032017-04-10T13:40:10.383-04:002017-04-10T13:40:10.383-04:00Hi, I was trying to track down the exact date when...Hi, I was trying to track down the exact date when Dave Van Ronk played at Syracuse in 1969 and ran across your site. There's a recording of him that's been floating around for years labeled as February 1969 at the Jabberwocky Festival, Syracuse University.

I dug into the Daily Orange archives and could find no mention in 1969 or 1970 of a Jabberwocky Festival. And the Jabberwocky Café/Nightclub didn't open in the Kimmel Dining Hall basement at Syracuse U until May 8, 1969. That weekend had 8 shows (2 on May 8 at 8 and 10pm, and 3 each on May 9 and 10 at 7:30, 9:30, and 11:15pm) by Junior Wells and John Hammond.

I did find an article in the Orange that advertised a Dave Van Ronk concert sponsored by the Syracuse Folk Society on March 22, 1969 at Crouse College Auditorium at Syracuse U. Since you chronicle the history of Syracuse music, I thought I would pass this little tidbit along :)IMPigpenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17762063835995298905noreply@blogger.com
