HISTORY OF SYRACUSE MUSIC "OFFICIAL SITE"- CHAPTER 111 - UPBEAT TV SHOW OUT OF CLEVELAND FEATURED MANY CNY ARTISTS- DIO, THE SEVEN, LARRY SANTOS, WOOL AND OTHERS BETWEEN 1967-70.

Every weekend between 1966-1970 we in Central New York turned in to the popular Cleveland, Ohio broadcast Sunday morning television show "UPBEAT" This show hosted by Don Webster featuring many  top national, regional and local acts. One of the first I remember seeing was our own Ronnie Dio & The Prophet singing "Walking in Different Circle" back on June 3, 1967

On the show Ronnie Dio and the Prophets performed along with Brian Hyland, The Youngbloods, Scott MacKenzie, The McCoys (Rick Derringer), The Tokens, Nitty Gritty Dirty Band, Keith & Wild Kingdom, Les McCann, The Number One, Ural Thomas, Vacant Lot.

Others Syracuse/ CNY acts that performed on "UPBEAT" are as follows..

Free Design w/ Bob Papaleoni on drums - Jan 11, 1969

The Wool (Ed Wool) - April 26, 1969

Larry Santos- August 16, 1969 and again January 3, 1970

The Seven- January 29, 1970

Note- Fallen Angels that performed are not Syr. University band but Roulette Records act.

Note- Special thanks to our Research Expert- John D'Angelo for finding the Dio date.

Also thought Otis & All Night Workers were on this show, but could not find date.
